So hot...

Close enough to 40 today (degrees celcius).  Forecast of 41 tomorrow.

Lovely.

Can you sense the sarcasm there?

ANYWAY!  Like the title suggests, I have made a few more inroads in the great list.

One thing complete; #48 Set up a space in the study for Tiana.   She is staying at her Nan and Grandad's at the moment, and is going to be so happy to see a little desk all set up for her in here when she gets home :-)

Then, I think it's #109 on my list - Perform one random act of kindess per week.  Last week I didn't get around to doing so *slaps self on fingers!*  Today though, without thinking I performed 2 RAKs :-)  The first I had just made my way into the toilet cubicle in the parents room at the local shopping center.  I heard a young child come in, so I reversed the pram out and let the little boy go first.  I know what it's like with a youngster needing the toilet, they leave going until they REALLY need to go!   #2 RAK, I had just lined up at the checkout at the supermarket, trolley laden with goods.  I noticed the lady behind me only had a handful of items in her trolley, so I let her go ahead of me.  It meant a few more minutes in the line for me, but it was nice letting her go first and not have to wait for my shopping to go through first :-)

A few other things I am still plodding away at too, so much of my list are things that cannot be done without a bit of background work first, but to see the progress I am making is making me feel good!

YIKES!!!!

Yesterday I received a letter about the refresher course, acknowledging receipt of my application, stating they will contact me "in due course".

THEN!

Today I received a letter from the nurse bank I had an interview with back at the start of December...  I am on their books!  I have an employee number, I am booked in to orientation and a competency testing day!  I don't know when I can start working though, the competency day isn't until the 22nd of April.  Either way, YIKES!!!  I am now feeling all scared/nervous/anxious/excited/etc again!

#83  Read and finish a book once every 2 months

For Christmas I received "My Steve" by Terri Irwin.  Not a terribly hard nor long book to read, but I enjoyed it.  Last night I finished it, so can tick one book off for the challenge.  Now I will get back onto another I had started roughly a year ago but haven't picked up in about that long!

#31  Ring one family member per week
I have spoken to one of my sisters, also caught up with her & my parents on Friday (they live over an hour and a half away now so we don't see each other often)

#55  Ring one friend per week

Yesterday I rang 4!  And none of them were home!  So 4 messages left.  One returned the call last night.

#81  Do one crossword per week

I have started one, twice (two different crosswords online).  Each time I have then been interrupted by my kids...  I will have another go at one today some time!

It's been 3 years and 4 months since I last worked.  The nurses board of Victoria recently changed the ruling on recency of practice, instead of so many hours of work in a 5 year period, it is now in a 2 year period.  As a result I now have to do a refresher course before I can work again.  A tad frustrating, until I think about it properly...  If I were to go back to work now I can only imagine how rusty I would be, how out of my depth I would feel until I found my feet.  Completing a refresher course will help blow away the cobwebs.

Lately I have been feeling more and more ready to return to work, a few days ago I found out the local hospital are running a 5 week refresher course commencing in early February.  Tonight I sent off my application.

Me = now feeling a tad nervous, but also excited.

I spoke to someone about it yesterday, she said they will interview next week, and hopefully by the end of next week they will let people know if they have been accepted or not - eeek!!!  Then the fun of trying to find childcare will begin...

* * *
I haven't completed anything off my list yet, but have made a start on some (you can see them in italics now).

#20  I made a start on this yesterday, I actually feel really excited about it!  At the moment though, the budget I have started writing up includes an income from me (which at this stage is not there).  I will draw up another one for the income we have now.  I'll get started on that later today.

#23 & #98  I need to go and buy 2 small money boxes so I can get a real start on these 2.  My plan is to put the $1 in each every day, and not open them until the 1001 days is over.  I forgot to buy them today, so at the moment the money is sitting in my socks drawer!

#29  I have created the template for our family blog, just need to get around to writing some entries into it now...

#49  I bought 3 sets of drawers today, and have sorted most toys into groups and put them into the drawers.  Just knowing they have a proper 'home' now makes me feel like I am getting right on top of the chaos that these 3 kids of mine create!!

#58 & #59  By starting on the exercise, I have started on the loss of 5kg.  Now I need to get onto some serious meal planning so that I am not tempted to buy takeaway...  I do need to get serious about exercise too though, at the moment I am counting an hour of walking as exercise (which it is, but I want to get some sweat happening!)

#75  I am keeping a paper gratitude diary, that way it should be easier to maintain.  There are some days/nights when getting online to do it just doesn't happen.

#78  to kick this one off I sat and sorted through my inbox (which still has a lot in there that just needs deleting, but it is going to take time...)  Right at this moment I do not have one unread email in my inbox!!

Another thing I really need to do is get started on making a plan on how to attack quite a number of things on my list, there are some things that just can not happen without forward planning.  I should get onto that tonight.

Right now I have Logan wanting cuddles, he's tired but I don't want him to sleep now, if he does he'll be up late...  Time to keep him entertained.

The Mission
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

My List
Start date : 01 January 2008
End date : 28 September 2010

Key
